Teachers Academy’s MMI Koppam centre is an authorised training centre associated with Modern Montessori International (MMI), London, providing Montessori teacher education in Kerala. 

Modern Montessori International is an internationally established organization specialising in Montessori education and teacher training, with a network of centres in different countries. MMI India’s official Teacher Training Centre listing includes Koppam, Kerala, placing Teachers Academy’s Koppam, Pattambi centre within this recognised MMI teacher-training network.

This association represents an important academic connection for Teachers Academy. Through the MMI framework, learners at the MMI Koppam centre are introduced to a structured approach to Montessori teacher preparation, including Montessori philosophy and principles, child development, the prepared environment, Montessori materials, curriculum and practical teaching experience.

The MMI teacher-training programme is designed to develop professional competence in guiding children through the Montessori Method, with emphasis on observation, hands-on learning, independence, child development and the role of the educator as a guide.

The MMI Diploma in Montessori Method of Education is designed to prepare educators to work with children in the Montessori age group of approximately 2½ to 6 years. The programme develops professional understanding of Montessori philosophy, child development, the prepared environment and the role of the Montessori educator.

The training provides systematic study of Montessori principles and classroom practice, combining theoretical understanding with practical experience. Learners are introduced to Montessori teaching materials and the ways in which these materials support children's independence, concentration, coordination and development.

The programme includes areas such as Montessori Philosophy and Principles, Child Development, Curriculum Planning, Practical Life, Sensorial Education, Language, Mathematics and Cultural Subjects. MMI also includes practicum teaching/internship so that trainees can apply their theoretical and practical learning in a Montessori environment under supervision.

MMI teacher education is grounded in the Montessori philosophy, which recognises the child as an active learner with a natural desire to explore, discover and develop independence. The Montessori approach gives importance to observation, respect for the individual child, freedom within appropriate limits and learning through purposeful activity.

The diploma programme includes coursework, practical examination and written examination, reflecting both the theoretical understanding and practical application required in Montessori teacher education.

The qualification is awarded by Modern Montessori International (London) to learners who successfully complete the prescribed course requirements.
